Old Paper Tiles Number 1

Original collage artwork, derived from fragments of an antique sheet music covers, alongside an array of antique papers, some from the 19th and early 20th centuries.

This work patchwork showcases past manufacturing techniques when viewed carefully. The tiles are selected for their developing deterioration; they age at varying paces, many carryinrg the characterful grime and discolouration that the years have bestowed on them. The patchwork shows decades of change that grants the piece its distinctively textural qualities.  

It will continue to mature over decades to come. Applied to acid-free art board and presented in an antique gold frame that also shows age indicators of its advancing years.

Professionally framed, including glass glazing, strung and ready to hang.
